Magnus Cort wins opening stage of Tour of Denmark

Is anyone really surprised? I mean really, after what he did last year this should have been quite expected. Magnus Cort lit up the sprint on the first stage of the Tour of Denmark and is well on his way to repeating his impressive performance last year that included two stage wins and a 9th place overall.
A breakaway of 6 was out front for the majority of the day but some Belgians and Danes got together and decided to fuck everyone up. Topsport Vlaanderen (7 out of 8 riders) and Lotto-Belisol (5 out of 8) along with Tinkoff-Saxo and CULT Energy (4 each) got together and decimated the field. A peloton of 39 riders went off the front with these four teams making up just a bit over half.

So as you can see from the video (which might not play in a Chrome browser), Cort took that sprint from the front and man handled everyone. Kudos to Topsport for driving the move that split the peloton and nearly finishing it off with Jasper De Buyst taking 2nd place and Tom Van Asbroeck in 4th place. Also, Tiesj Benoot was the only stagiaire (at least official one racing with his team) to make the selection so he gets some applause as well.

I doubt this will be the only post this week on Cort.
